September is a month, in my mind, much like January. A start of a new season, new school year and doubling down to get things done. Summer is for slacking, fall is for working. To that end, I’ve joined an online challenge involving 780 other artists who are going to attempt to create 30 paintings in 30 days.
But I do know this: creativity creates creativity. The trick is making the first few steps and then something happens. And that something is awesome. Like momentum, but deeper.
Where do you go to see this challenge? Well here for starters. But also here: http://30paintingsin30days.weebly.com/
My approach to this painting marathon is to set up a theme. I’m going to be painting portraits and/or scenes from my fandoms. I’ve got around 18 paintings planned out at the moment and I will add more as the queue moves on.
Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Supernatural, Star Wars, Star Trek (the reboot), Avengers, Wonder Woman (from the 70s) and more are on the list. Everything will be for sale, prints and originals, so speak up if you want anything. Shipping will happen the first week of October for originals and new prints. Proper photographs are crucial for good prints so I’ll be doing all my photography the first week of October. Existing prints, currently for sale, will go out weekly.
I’m thrilled, nervous and excited to be pushing so damn hard to paint a huge number of pieces. Intense periods of work like this always push an artist to the next level and I can’t wait to see where that will take my work.
This is going to be an awesome month.
