Deadpool is six kinds of awesome wrapped up in the exact right way to do a superhero movie. Violent, rude, hilarious and definitely not for kids. It breaks the fourth wall frequently and successfully. It uses music to its complete advantage and in unexpected ways.
So of course I had to paint it.
This is painting one of a three painting series. A trilogy, if you will.
In this go-round, I opted to start from the lightest colours and work my way up to the black. As much as I love and need black, it also offers a sense of security when painting. Security leads to complacency. Complacency to stagnancy. And a stagnant artist might as well be dead.
I am very much alive.
Want to hear about my anxiety when painting? Watch the videos. At this point I was missing black so damn much.
Holy crap, will this painting come together?
