Illumination

Lipedema is a condition that mainly affects women.

I don’t know much beyond the Wikipedia information, but I do know someone who is suffering from it. And I do know that research costs money and needs to be funded.

If you’re in London, Ontario or the surrounding area, there’s a fundraiser happening. It includes networking, a silent auction, a workshop and more. And it includes art.

And art? Well, that’s where I come in.

I paint a lot of pop art. I support a select number of charities. And when the two come together, great things can happen.

Kind of like when Sean Connery and Harrison Ford came together to make what is arguably the best Indiana Jones movie. Those two had incredible chemistry. And yes, I know I painted them recently but really? I had to do it again because that there was magic.

Now normally, I paint live on Facebook. It’s a thing. It’s MY thing.

An android firmware update has messed that thing up completely. My internet connection shuts off randomly. Facebook works and then doesn’t. Or I can’t upload. It’s annoying as hell. So these photos, most of them, never made it to my page.

And so you missed hearing about my struggles with this painting. How I wasn’t sure if it would pull together. How I wanted it to work so badly. And when I added the teal I thought it was ruined.

These are important things to know, because art, while it comes easier to me than ever before, doesn’t just appear like magic out of my brush. There are still moments of uncertainty. Moments where I think I should just walk away.

And moments where everything comes together. Like magic from my brush.
