Struggling with making changes? This is for you.

I don’t have New Year’s resolutions. For me, they don’t work. I’ve written before about how they are all negative… fixing where you’re lacking.


But I do have some promises to myself. Because I work from home and my kids are older now, I’ve found I don’t go outside unless I need to go somewhere.

There are so many studies touting the benefits of being outside and taking walks. I’m fond of science, studies are my thing.

So I made a promise to myself, because I love myself, that snow and cold be damned, I’m going outside each day even if it’s for a few minutes.

This isn’t from a place of lack… I need to exercise. This year I’m getting into shape. I’m too fat. NO.

This is a place of love. Being outside will make me feel better. It’s a kindness. I could use more kindness in my life, and hey! I can take care of that.

Today was cold. I was busy. I didn’t feel well (stomach bug raging through the house, huzzah!) but I went out anyway. Eventually. And it felt great.

Kinda like a love letter to me from me which is pretty fucking awesome.

So, if there’s something that you want to do but are resisting or struggling with it, find a way to make it happen from a place of love. Like a daily hug.

That’s step one.

Step two is easy and it’s a reward: every day you do that wonderful thing for yourself, put a heart in your calendar. Every day. At the end of the month, I bet you’ll have a calendar full of hearts and love.

And that is how you make changes in your life. With love from you to you.
