This is the second painting in my Deadpool trilogy. A moment when we finally see Wade show his face to his friend and get some rather hilarious feedback.
There’s lots to see in the videos, and worth watching. I talk about prepping for painting, how to deal with a disappearing drawing (AAAACK!) comes to mind and more. I had a lot of fun painting this one, trying a slightly different and looser style.
You’ll also notice I had a guest in the studio, my oldest spawn, who paints portraits as well. See this post for some of her work. When she’s not painting, she often spends time making me laugh while I paint. The atmosphere in my studio is one of joy. I think that makes for the best kinds of work.
I worked this one from black on, because the black was a dominant colour across the board and sometimes it’s necessary to just go with the flow of the work.
And I like black, what can I say? It’s such a sexy colour. Rich. Vibrant. And too much makes a piece fall flat. It’s like painting on the edge.
I realise that, as usual, the lighting makes the black reflect but not to worry; I’ve taken better photos of the piece which will be on the site soon. Yay!
And the final outcome is here.

Today I took photos of my latest pieces for print purposes. Here’s a little behind-the-scenes video as I got started. Taking photos outside is always better and today was a balmy -5C, so it wasn’t cold at all.
