With everything going on in the world right now, it’s really hard to stay focused on something small like art.
It kind of puts things into a hard perspective that maybe is unfair.
In today’s world, we know more instantly! Events that are happening right now on the other side of the world can be seen live!
And it can be overwhelming.
What right do I have to feel sad? I have food in my cupboard. The ability to get more easily and without risk to my life. I have a roof over my head. I have friends.
Where do I get off making art of any kind when there are hungry kids in the world and wars going on?
These are things I think about.
I know I’m not alone in this.
Our safe western lives seem very shallow.
But I realised that maybe if I can’t make a difference over there, where things are bad, I can make a difference here.
That every good deed, every piece of beauty added to this world matters.
A smile to someone, looking into their eyes, for a fraction of a second, can save the life of someone who was inches from ending it.
A kindness through words or actions can lighten someone’s load during a hard time.
And these people pass it forward in a ripple effect.
So I paint on with bright colours because it does matter. And I share on Twitter both my art and uplifting messages, because they add light.
That maybe my little light will grow and brighten enough to make a difference in one person’s life right now.
And maybe that’s you.
I see you, from here.
You are not alone.
And this is why I paint for www.IMAlive.org Their message is the same as mine but their reach so much greater.
If my art, coupled with the Supernatural family’s messages of hope, makes a difference to people in crisis, my work is meaningful.
I’m going to be painting 8 more paintings for IMAlive over the next few weeks. Follow me online and here to see the latest updates as I go.
